Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional NV356E – Lightweight and Modern Design

First up, we tested the Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional NV356E. Several of us have heard of this vacuum cleaner, and it was about time that we checked if the buzz around it was justified. After all, this product needs to deliver if it seriously wants to be considered as a professional-level vacuum cleaner.

Design and Features

The Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional upright vacuum is meant to harmonize optimum performance and suction power with a relatively lightweight design – and they’ve pretty much nailed it. The first thing we have to commend is the beauty of this vacuum cleaner. With a white and silver coloration, Shark succeeded in making the NV356E look as modern and professional as possible.

Now, this Lift-Away Professional cleaner is indeed lightweight, but it doesn’t reduce the capability of its distinct and portable canister. In fact, while the NV356E weighs 14 pounds, it is the canister that takes up eight pounds of it. This could well be the best canister vacuum cleaner under $300. Of course, Shark was quite ingenious with the materials. By combining metal and rubber components with acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) and polypropylene (PP) plastics, the overall weight isn’t heavy for its size, and it’s quite durable. Likewise, the power cord should please most users as it measures 30 feet in total – enough to reach the corners of an average room in the house.

Moreover, the NV356E vacuum cleaner provided us with a tool holder, eliminating the need to spend more money for one. We like how this holder essentially gave us easy access to all the tools we’ll require during our cleaning activities. Speaking of the tools, this Shark product includes a premium pet power brush – something pet owners will surely be happy about – and a crevice tool. In this day and age, it should be a given for vacuum cleaners to include a crevice tool to reach the narrowest areas of the house, and Shark provided a relatively long one. In addition, greater maneuverability and flexibility is achieved through swivel steering.

Furthermore, Shark indicated that the Navigator Lift-Away Professional NV356E has what they call a lifetime belt. Basically, the company’s vacuum cleaner utilizes a clever electronic system. If ever the cleaner’s brush roll gets into trouble with huge debris or even with a carpet corner, the power nozzle motor automatically shuts down. Ideally, this stops belt wear from occurring and allows you to deal with the obstruction before resuming the cleaning process. In the long run, we wouldn’t have to worry so much about maintenance and replacement costs.

Finally, the NV356E vacuum cleaner goes beyond a HEPA filter to safeguard us from allergies and other health issues. Aside from having a lifetime HEPA filter, which requires minimal maintenance and only shows discoloration without a decrease in effectiveness, the Shark vacuum cleaner applies the innovative Anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology. With this feature, nearly a hundred percent of allergens and dust alike are sealed within the vacuum instead of going back to the air.

Performance

With the design and included features alone, we were already impressed with the Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional NV356E. However, the performance proved to us that this vacuum cleaner has much more to display. This product is meant not only for deep carpet cleaning but also for dealing with bare floors. Thus, this could be the best vacuum cleaner for carpet. Thanks to the huge portable canister, any of these activities didn’t have much cool down time spent emptying the canister. The bare floor setting works on fragile carpets, hard floors, and even on above-floor cleaning. In contrast, the brush roll option is meant for deep-cleaning both carpets and dealing with hair, fur, and fiber.

In order to achieve these, the NV356E needed to have great and consistent suction capabilities. Thus, Shark gave it the aforementioned brush roll on/off capability and the dust-away attachment. For us, this attachment worked wonders and we couldn’t find a single thing to complain about. Specifically, the latter feature is meant for bare-floor cleaning. Do take note that the area – whether it’s a wooden, tile, or linoleum floor – should be dry in order for the NV356E vacuum cleaner to work properly. All you have to do is to step on the floor nozzle while holding and lifting the canister handle to take care of fine dust.

One smart feature the Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional vacuum cleaner is its ability to change its suction power. When the suction is too strong, delicate fabrics can get easily damaged. So, it’s best to take advantage of the suction release feature when dealing with certain fabrics. Lowering the power is as easy as turning the release the handle counterclockwise. Still, we believe that the brush width of the Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional could have been a little bit wider. Testing this vacuum cleaner on small floor spaces was fantastic, but using this on sizable rooms with lots to cover can take some time.

The extended crevice tool and the pet power brush also did their intended functions well. We wouldn’t be surprised if this was the best upright vacuum 2018.  It didn’t matter if it was huge balls of cat hair or pesky dog fur – the brush picks them up with ease. We really think this is the best vacuum cleaner for pet hair. Furthermore, steering the vacuum cleaner around was convenient. Still, in order to maintain optimum performance, we highly recommend taking care of the dust cup and the filters. Throughout our cleaning duties, the dirt goes straight to the collection bin without moving through the air filter, removing the need to wash the filter with each usage. The dust cup should be emptied once the uppermost line is reached. On the other hand, both the pre-motor foam filter and the pre-motor felt filter only need a full-day rinsing and drying every three months. As for the HEPA filter, it really only needs a one-time cleaning every couple of years.

Overall, the Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional NV356E might just be the best vacuum under 300 2018 With its appealing and lightweight form, this vacuum cleaner packs a lot of nifty features. From the hygienic filter and the various attachments to the suction release tool, this Shark product can readily handle all kinds of surface debris and floor types — just don’t forget to use the appropriate settings and tools.

PROS
  • Modern, durable, and lightweight design
  • Anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology combined with HEPA filter
  • Suction release feature to control power
  • Excellent attachments and cleaning modes
CONS
  • Brush width not ideal for wide spaces

Eufy RoboVac 11 – Everyday Robotic Cleaner

The second machine on our vacuum cleaner reviews 2018 is built for the future. Instead of having to move the vacuum on your own, the Eufy RoboVac 11 is meant to be an automatic cleaning robot. Now, this sounds promising, but what are the actual limits and advantages of such an automated vacuum cleaner?

Design and Features

As you can see, the Eufy RoboVac 11 features a low-profile not only for easy storage but also for reaching surfaces below furniture. Similarly, the size of this robotic cleaner allows it to move around areas that cannot be easily reached by conventional and larger vacuums. Likewise, its form is meant to climb over most rugs and other slightly raised surfaces to move around the house. Thanks to the simplicity of the instructions, we had the RoboVac 11 assembled in no time.

So, how exactly does this robotic vacuum work? Well, Eufy employs the Bounce technology to allow the RoboVac 11 to navigate around the area without any other form of assistance – in other words, the cleaner has an infrared technology. In particular, this Eufy product travels on a straight path; it only changes its direction once an obstacle is detected. To prevent severely falling and taking damages, a drop sensing technology is also in effect. Furthermore, RoboVac 11 owners have several cleaning modes to choose from, with each mode changing how the cleaner navigates itself.

Now that we’ve clarified how the RoboVac 11 functions in the first place, let us evaluate the construction. In this aspect, Eufy goes all out with a tough, anti-scratch tempered glass cover. Not only does this make the cleaner durable and tough against constant bumps but it also results in an aesthetically pleasing look. On the other hand, the dustbin is quite big for a small vacuum. This should keep it working without much downtime. Take note that the robotic cleaner’s red indicator light is incredibly useful. This light can keep flashing or stay on while being accompanied by one up to four beeps. These beeps indicate many things: certain parts of the robot cleaner are stuck, the sensors are dirty, and the battery level is low.

Similar to other vacuums we’ve reviewed, this cleaner uses a HEPA-like filter to deal with allergens, spores, dust mites, and other substances. In effect, users get cleaner air and surfaces. Aside from this filter, you’ll be getting an AC power adapter, four side brushes, a cleaning tool, and a remote control. Sadly, there are no AAA batteries included, but they aren’t expensive anyway. Speaking of batteries, the vacuum itself has 2600mAh li-on battery. Thanks to its li-on characteristic, the EyeVac 11 gets to have consistent and fade-free suction power. Of course, you’ll also have a welcome guide and a one-year warranty. We also know that customer support is remarkable with EyeVac, so you can easily contact them regarding defects and replacements.

Performance

Charging the Eufy RoboVac 11 took us about six hours while its maximum run lasted about an hour and a half. With such a limited running time, the robotic cleaner compensated with a remarkable 3-point cleaning system. Precisely, the RoboVac 11 collects even the toughest surface debris by using a rolling brush, counter-rotating side brushes, and a reliable suction power. We were initially worried about the cleaner getting stuck due to medium-height carpets and rugs, but it successfully climbed over those. Even as it works on its own, it managed to collect just as many surface debris as a bigger vacuum would.

While the Eufy RoboVac 11 kept working smoothly most of the time, we did notice that it doesn’t always go below furniture. Specifically, it didn’t go under small chairs. The automatic cleaner probably registered it as a solid object. Thus, it’s wise to move these chairs away in the meantime. As for carpets, kitchen floors, and tiled bathrooms, this vacuum cleaner did things without a hitch. Perhaps the best part is that the RoboVac 11 does its job without any noticeable noise. This is a fantastic vacuum cleaner for those residing in apartments and other places that are in close proximity with neighbors.

Our recommendation is to schedule the RoboVac 11 to clean every single day. Setting this up is easy using the remote control, and this will lead to quicker deep-cleaning activities during weekends. Just remove any cables that could result in the entanglement of the Eufy RoboVac 11. Similarly, remove any liquid substances, chemicals, burning substances, and sharp debris before beginning the automated cleaning process. Also, take note that this isn’t an ideal vacuum cleaner for incredibly dark surfaces and areas with relatively high, plush carpets and mats measuring more than 15 millimeters in height.

All in all, the RoboVac 11 is the best robot vacuum under $300. If you want to keep your place regularly cleaned without having to do it yourself, get this vacuum. It has a durable and admirable build combined with infrared technology for precise navigation. This Eufy vacuum could have better surface and object detection, but it’s still a trustworthy automatic cleaner that performs quietly and impressively.

PROS
  • Low-profile, anti-scratch, and durable design
  • Reliable automatic vacuum cleaner
  • Functions quietly
  • 3-point cleaning system improves performance
CONS
  • Doesn’t always clean below furniture

Shark Rocket TruePet with DuoClean Technology HV382 – Powerful Upright Vacuum

The third vacuum cleaner we have once again comes from Shark, proving that they are one of the best vacuum cleaner brands. This time, we have the Shark Rocket TruPet HV382 gracing our vacuum cleaner reviews. It’s lighter than the Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional NV356E, yet it seems to pack just as much in terms of features and performance.

Design and Features

At just 9.9 pounds, the Shark Rocket TruPet HV382 is a remarkably light upright-type vacuum cleaner. Just like the NV356E, it’s being touted as a cleaner meant for both bare floors and carpets. The color of this product is charcoal gray, and it’s made out of ABS and PP plastics combined with metal and rubber.

Compared to the previously released Shark Rocket Vacuum HV300, this vacuum cleaner features twice the capacity. Still, the defining characteristic of this product is its ability to switch from an upright vacuum to a handheld type. Thus, you can also use this to clean pieces of furniture, stairs, and other non-floor areas. In addition, this vacuum has included LED lights not only on the nozzle but also on the handheld vacuum. This is a simple yet fantastic tool to eliminate even the debris that is difficult to spot. You shouldn’t worry about the lights going out immediately since they are designed to be as long-lasting as the vacuum itself.

Thanks to the size and design of the Shark Rocket TruPet HV382, there are two ways to store it: going for a wall mount to save floor space, or placing the hand vacuum onto the wand base. As for the included accessories, there are five to choose: TruePet Mini Motorized Brush, Under-Appliance Wand, Dusting Brush, Duster Crevice Tool, and Upholstery Tool. Likewise, the power cord measures 30 feet, which should be long enough for most users. A nifty part of the overall design is how the floor nozzle has a brush roll garage for easy access and maintenance.

Performance

The Shark Rocket TruPet HV382 utilizes the DuoClean Technology, which has what is referred to as Triple Particle Cleaning. In other words, using this vacuum for both floors and carpets was a good decision. No matter the size of the debris or how stuck they were, this machine had enough power to take them in. Specifically, we loved using the self-cleaning velvet brush roll whenever we cleaned our carpets. Similarly, the bristle brush did its job of removing the finest surface debris. As for bare-floor cleaning, the soft brush roll deals with dust. One thing we did notice was how the roller brush easily gets filled with pet hair. This only happens whenever we use the highest setting, and it doesn’t really reduce the performance. Still, we opted to clean the roller brush occasionally before resuming.

Of course, we had to test it out as a handheld vacuum. We held it with our own hands and managed to clean the stairs and several pieces of furniture. It really felt like a 2-in-1 vacuum, which could potentially save a lot of money in the long run. Regardless of how we used it, the suction was always more than enough. To keep the performance at its optimum state, we recommend rinsing and air-drying the pre-motor foam filter and felt filter for a full day at least once a month. The post-motor filter should be good without a full-day of cleaning for a full year.

Overall, the Shark Rocket TruPet HV382 is one of the best vacuum cleaners 2018 that can be used both as an upright cleaner and a handheld type. The suction power is pretty incredible, especially when combined with the DuoClean technology and the attachments.

PROS
  • Lightweight and slim design
  • Works as an upright and handheld vacuum
  • DuoClean technology
  • Reliable attachments
CONS
  • Pet hair gets stuck when using high-power settings

Bissell CrossWave 1785A – Dual-Purpose Vacuum Cleaner

The fourth entry is the Bissell CrossWave 1785A. The brand is quite popular due to its patented systems and features. With the 1785A, it looks like Bissell has made another revolutionary product.

Design and Features

The major selling point of the Bissell CrossWave 1785A is the fact that it can be used to clean and wash floors with the same machine. This essentially removes the need to vacuum first then mop. Switching the function of this vacuum cleaner happens with just the touch of a button, and it is indeed different. In order for this to work, the Bissell CrossWave 1785 has a two-tank system. There are separate containers for the cleaning solution and for the dirty water. Additionally, the Smart-Touch Controls observe moister content to prevent area rugs from becoming too wet and floors from taking in bleed water. A multi-surface solution is included to ensure that washing activities result in a spring breeze scent.

This Bissell vacuum cleaner also uses a Dual Action Brush Roll, which is composed of a Gentle Clean microfiber and a nylon brush. This brush roll not only scrubs the surface but also picks up dry substances. As for the power cord, its length is 25 feet and isn’t exactly located in the best spot. While this is pretty average, we wish it were longer by at least five more feet. Lastly, Bissell has graciously offered a two-year limited warranty for the CrossWave 1785A.

Performance

Using the Bissell CrossWave 1785A was easy the first time. We understood why it was known as the best rated vacuum by some users. After all, this was a vacuum cleaner with two functions. Any wrong push could have unleashed water in the wrong places. The Dual-Action Brush Roll managed to pick up debris and wash the floor in less time than with separate sweeping and mopping. The brush roll could reach 3,000 RPM and readily picked up dry debris as it scrubbed the floor. We tried it on marble surfaces and on ceramic floors. Both of them looked so clean that they could almost have been brand new. The CrossWave 1785A was also quite flexible with the help of swivel steering. If you’re like many of us who have a lot of furry pets, you will appreciate this cleaner and washer. Aside from sucking in all the pet hair and cat litter, this Bissell vacuum cleaner also mops away the paw prints.

Simply put, the Bissell CrossWave is a remarkable vacuum cleaner and washer. The Smart Touch Controls prevent any mistakes, and the Dual Action Brush Roll works just as intended.

PROS
  • Acts as vacuum cleaner and washer
  • Incredible Dual Action Brush Roll
  • Smart Touch Controls
  • Multi-surface Solution included
CONS
  • Power cord is a tad short and could have had a better placement
5

Dyson V6 Trigger – Handheld Yet Formidable Vacuum

Finally, we have a vacuum from Dyson. While the V6 Trigger is a genuinely small machine compared to the other entries, this still packs a punch – all without needing a cord.

Design and Features

At just a mere 2.3 pounds, this is the best lightest vacuum cleaner 2018. Since this was designed to be a handheld machine, you no longer have to worry about getting the cord tangled or having to drag it around. The lightness of the V6 Trigger means you can reach various surfaces without a hitch.

Even as a handheld machine, the Dyson vacuum cleaner is still designed to be powerful. It has a motorized cleaner head to deal with any floor type. This cleaner head utilizes sturdy nylon bristles to remove dirt from the carpet while the carbon fiber filaments take care of fine dust located on hard floors, possibly making it the best vacuum for carpet 2018. To make the suction power of the V6 better, 2 Tier Radial cyclones were also implemented. Composed of 15 cyclones separated into two groups, these components provide extra airflow so no fine dust is left unmoved.

Just like other Dyson vacuums, even this handheld, cordless machine utilizes the company’s patented cyclone technology for maximum suction. This feature is made more potent with the nickel manganese cobalt battery and the digital motor. Speaking of the battery, there’s a docking station that not only stores the V6 Trigger vacuum cleaner but also keeps the attachments.

Performance

We already knew that this handheld vacuum cleaner wouldn’t last for hours on end due its build and size. Still, the 20 minutes of performance we got was incredible. Thanks to the battery working with the cyclone technology, we were able to see its fade-free suction power throughout. In particular, the motor also made use of a digital pulse technology and a magnet to create more than a hundred thousand spins per minute. This handheld vacuum is indeed small, but it’s obviously formidable. Another nice thing about using this is that emptying the bin only requires pushing a single button.

Dyson was aware that the V6 Trigger should be as efficient as possible, so the company included a trigger that instantly releases to prevent wasted battery power. Charging time took more than three hours, so we hoped this could be improved in the long run. Other than that, we couldn’t complain about this handheld cleaner. It’s sleek, it’s astoundingly powerful, and it’s easy to store. Whether you want to clean your apartment or your car, this is something you should consider getting.

PROS
  • Incredibly lightweight vacuum cleaner
  • Uses Dyson’s patented cyclone technology for superior suction
  • Nickel manganese cobalt battery
  • Trigger release to save energy
CONS
  • Charging can take about four hours

Conclusion

If you’re looking for a handheld vacuum cleaner, the best machine you can get is the Dyson V6 Trigger. Even with just a 20-minute running time, this incredibly lightweight and energy-efficient vacuum will easily clean surfaces with its powerful patented cyclone technology. Get this when you want to clean narrow corners and above-floor areas.

Overall, the best vacuum cleaner under 300 is definitely the Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional NV356E. Aside from a fantastic suction power, the best lightweight upright vacuum cleaner also has the hygienic Anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology. It’s definitely worth the price as it combines a lightweight yet durable design along with various effective attachments and cleaning modes to deal with any floor type.
