So now that you know what the best vacuums under 150 are, let’s move on to the more detailed reviews of each and every one of them.

Alright, now that we have an overview of each of the vacuums on our list, let’s get into the details!

Bissell 1646 PowerGlide Pet Vacuum - Corded

This vacuum is right up at the edge of our price range but for good reason. It’s a powerful,  lightweight vacuum where you’ll really feel like you’re getting the most for your money. It’s an upright vacuum and only weighs about 17 pounds. It also has swivel steering, which not every vacuum has, and makes it very easy to maneuver despite its power.

The cord is 27 feet in length so it’ll allow you to vacuum between a couple of rooms or go up a full flight of stairs with ease. Another great feature about this vacuum is that it has an easy on/off switch that will allow you to easily go between carpet and hardwood. Most vacuums do have this capability, but this vacuum is especially versatile. It’s a pet vacuum so it’s specifically engineered to be able to easily pick up pet hair around the house. Even if you don’t have any pets, you can still use that added suction to your advantage.

Another great feature about this vacuum is its edge to edge section which gives it a wider suction than a lot of other vacuums. It has one of the wider reaches of the vacuums on this list which ultimately means less time spent vacuuming for you!

This vacuum is bagless and in addition, this vacuum also comes with a specific pet tool, which is very power in itself. It also comes with a crevice tool and an extended reach tool. A lot of vacuums will come with an extended reach tool but not a crevice tool, so it’s appreciated that this one comes with both.

  • Edge to edge suction
  • Swivel steering
  • Comes with pet tool
  • Upper end of price

Hoover Vacuum Cleaner WindTunnel 3 High Performance Pet Bagless Corded Upright

A vacuum that really packs a lot of power into an amazing price! This is another bagless pet vacuum but as we mentioned, you don’t have to have a pet to take advantage of the powerful suction that these types of vacuum offer! Another upright vacuum that also has a cord, this vacuum’s weight comes in right around 18 pounds.

Something that may be a major draw for people with larger houses is that this vacuum’s cord is 40 feet length! This is by far the longest cord out of any of the other vacuums on this list. You’ll be able vacuum multiple rooms with ease and without having to go through the hassle un unplugging and replugging it back in.

Another great aspect of this vacuum is its large canister. Again, the size of this canister beats out a lot of the vacuums which also means less time spent emptying it. The Hoover WindTunnel 3 comes with a pet tool in addition to a crevice tool, which is long enough to be utilized as your extended reach tool.

A couple of downsides to this vacuum – with great power can come great responsibility. With the larger canister, this vacuum does feel a little bit heavier and other 18 pound vacuums and additionally feels a bit harder to maneuver. It’s not impossible, just slightly more difficult than other comparable vacuums. However, if you really hate having to unplug and replug your vacuum in while vacuuming, the 40 foot cord on this vacuum could more than make up for it!

  • Extra long cord
  • Bigger canister
  • Comes with pet tool
  • Feels heavier
  • Hard to maneuver

Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Air Lift Deluxe Bagless Corded Upright Vacuum

Okay okay, so we know this shouldn’t really be a factor, but this vacuum just LOOKS cool! We love the color and the design and will definitely look good in your house. Okay, but what about performance?

Another upright vacuum from the trusted Hoover brand, this vacuum weighs 17 pounds and is easy to maneuver. For how light it is however, it is still a very powerful vacuum. A really useful feature is that, instead of a hard-to-find switch when you want to switch from carpet to hardwood, there is a really handy button that makes it easy and quick to make the switch.

Something unique about this vacuum that is very rare to find, is the detachable canister! This allows you to get the best of both worlds of an upright vacuum and a cylinder vacuum. You can vacuum as you normally would, but then when you need to clean ceilings or somewhere else hard to reach, all you have to do is detach the canister! This especially comes in handy when you want to vacuum the stairs.

The Hoover Air Lift Deluxe also has a 30 foot cord, which is the second longest cord on our list. You can generally expect cord lengths of 22 to 27 feet, so anything over that is really a bonus.

The one downside to this vacuum is that the canister is on the smaller side, so you will have to empty it a little bit more often than a typical vacuum. However, since it is detachable, it kind of has to be small so it’s easier for you to carry.

  • Easy to maneuver
  • Detachable canister
  • Easy-to-find button to switch from carpet to hardwood
  • Smaller canister

BISSELL CleanView Plus Rewind Bagless Upright Vacuum with Triple Action Brush

Another bagless, corded, upright vacuum that also has a lot of power for such a great price. For under $100, the suction on this vacuum is hard to beat. It’s also pretty easy to maneuver considering how much power this vacuum does have.

The cord on this vacuum is 27 feet long and unlike a lot of the other vacuums on the list it is retractable! This might not seem like a big deal but it makes a big difference! When you’re done doing the work of vacuuming, it can be annoying to wind up a 27 foot long cord. On the Bissell CleanView, all you have to do is press a button and you’re officially done. This vacuum also has the added bonus of coming with a triple action brush, which is perfect for soft surfaces such as couches and beds.

As we mentioned this vacuum is bagless, but thankfully it’s super easy to empty! All it takes is one simple slide and all of the dust comes out of the bottom. Overall, this vacuum doesn’t have a lot of frills but for the price, the power and the suction will be hard to beat. And don’t forget the retractable cord!

  • Great suction
  • Easy to empty
  • Can be loud

Eureka Airspeed Unlimited Rewind Bagless Upright Vacuum

This is very similar to the previous vacuum – it’s essentially Eureka’s response to Bissell’s upright rewind vacuum. So what are the similarities and what are the differences?

The price point on both is right around the same so you don’t really need to take that into consideration. They both also have a cord with the exact same length and yes, the cord is retractable! Another lightweight vacuum that has a lot of power, again similar to the Bissell CleanView Plus Rewind.

There are a couple of things to note about this vacuum in particular, however. An added bonus is that it actually comes with four different attachments while a lot of other vacuums usually only come with two or three. Another great feature is that you can actually adjust it to different carpet lengths! Again, something that you might not think of off the top of your head, but is actually a really useful feature once you have it. Longer-length carpet can have much more dirt and dust trapped it so it’s important that the brush is able to adjust and go deeper to get that dirt, and this vacuum does just that!

One final thing to note about this vacuum in particular, is it a little bit louder than what you would expect from a vacuum from this size. But if that doesn’t bother you, overall, this is a solid vacuum that will not disappoint as far as power and suction, especially for the price.

  • Comes with 4 attachments
  • Adjust to different carpet lengths
  • Noisy

Hoover Vacuum Cleaner T-Series WindTunnel Pet Bagged Corded Upright Vacuum

Hoover is a brand name in vacuums that has withstood the test of time and for a very good reason – this vacuum does not disappoint. Another vacuum designed specifically to tackle pet hair and this is one of the best on the market to do just that. Even sucking up all of the pet hair, this vacuum’s suction has longevity. You can expect it to keep that like-new suction for months after you purchase it.

This is also the first vacuum on our list that is a bagged vacuum as opposed to bagless. Just because it has a bag though, it doesn’t mean that it’s harder to manage. The bag actually drops out with one simple touch and is automatically sealed. Bagged vacuums can actually be much better for those with allergies as it seals the dust and pet hair more than a bagless vacuum when you empty it. The Hoover T-Series WindTunnel Pet also has five different height position carpet adjustments to make sure that you really get the pet hair that may be deeply entrenched in your carpet.

At 14.8 pounds, this is also one of the lightest vacuums on our list. For the amount of suction that you get from this vacuum, 14.8 pounds is crazy light! It makes it very easy to maneuver. With that being said, it is actually pretty noisy for its size. So if noise is a big factor then consider that, but all the other factors more than outweigh this, in our opinion.

This is a corded vacuum but the cord falls on the longer end of the spectrum at 30 feet. Overall, considering weight, suction, carpet adjustments, and longevity – this is one of the best bagged vacuum and is going to be hard to beat!

  • Extremely light
  • 5 different carpet height adjustments
  • Maintains suction
  • Very loud

Shark Navigator Deluxe

This is about as solid and reliable of a vacuum as they come. One big factor that can determine how much of a chore vacuuming actually is, is how easy it is to maneuver. The Shark Navigator Deluxe does an amazing job at solving that problem. It has swivel steering giving you excellent control around furniture and thighs corners. Its maneuverability is one the Shark’s main draw for a lot of people.

It is also a very versatile vacuum. A lot of vacuums that are efficient on hardwood floors, may not be as good on deep carpet. You cannot say the same for this vacuum, however. It picks up all the dust in deep carpet as well as hardwood floors.

Lastly, the canister in this vacuum is larger than a lot of others. Which of course means less emptying and less time spent vacuuming for you! Not to mention, it also has a clean, sleek look which will look great in your home. Overall, if you’re looking for a solid, vacuum that can vacuum on a variety of floors and you also want a vacuum that feels light and is exceptionally easy to maneuver, strongly consider the Shark Navigator Deluxe.

  • Extremely easy to maneuver
  • Great on carpet and hardwood
  • Very large canister
  • On the louder side

BISSELL CleanView Bagless Upright Vacuum with OnePass Technology

Another Bissell makes our list, but for good reason! Again, this vacuum is upright and corded and is bagless. There are a couple of things about this vacuum that makes it sets it apart and makes it unique, however.

It contains OnePass technology which contains innovative brush design and provides non-stop suction. There’s nothing more frustrating than having to vacuum the same spot over and over again and the Bissell CleanView with OnePass technology helps to solve that problem. Compared to a lot of other vacuums on this list, you will have a much lower pass number over the same spot.

If you have household allergies such as pet and dust, this is also a great vacuum for you! With more innovative technology, this vacuum contains a multi-level filtration system which makes it so less of those allergies ever come into contact with you. It is a corded vacuum and the cord length clocks in at 25 feet, which is what you can expect for vacuums in this price range. It is also at the lower end of our price spectrum. For the price, you really can’t beat the multi-level filtration system and OnePass technology that this offers. And not to mention, it comes with a turbo brush tool and a crevice tool! We highly and confidently recommend this vacuum.

  • Great for people with allergies
  • OnePass technology
  • Comes with TurboBrush tool
  • Minimal cord length at 25 feet

BISSELL Zing Bagged Canister Vacuum

With all of the upright vacuums on the list, we had to include a couple of solely canister vacuums. We talked about the Hoover Airlift which had the detachable canister, but was ultimately still an upright vacuum. This one however is just a canister vacuum. Because of this, it drives the price way down (around $50!) and makes the vacuum very lightweight. This vacuum is only 12.5 pounds. It still comes on wheels, but it’s much easier to just carry it around as you quickly vacuum. In addition to the wheels, it features a comfortable carrying handle which puts you in a position to always be ready to get those hard to reach places and zoom quickly up the stairs.

It also features a retractable cord, one of our favorite features, and variable suction control! Which is a great feature for such a small, lightweight vacuum. It is a bagged vacuum but does have a full bag indicator to let you know exactly when to change the bag so no guesswork is needed on your part.

The one thing we do have to mention is that it doesn’t perform best on longer carpets. It’ll definitely do the trick for your basic carpets, but anything very shaggy and it will have trouble. It does have a carpet brush that you have to have engaged, and that will help, but it really shines on hardwood and short carpet. But hey, for the price and weight, it’s still hard to beat!

  • Very light
  • Great on hardwood
  • Very inexpensive
  • Not the best on carpet
  • Smaller bags

Bissell Zing Bagless Canister Vacuum

And rounding off our list, the bagless counterpart to the previous vacuum. They’re pretty similar except for a few key things. The first being that this one is bagless! So if you prefer bagless, definitely go with this option.

This vacuum also manages to make itself even a bit lighter – only eight pounds! It rolls but you will have absolutely no problem walking around with this one. As opposed to the other one, this one features a clear design making it easy to see when it’s full. This one also has adjustable section and adjustable cord.

One thing that this vacuum has over its bagged counterpart, is that this actually works a bit better on carpet, and for the same price! And again, this might not matter a whole lot but for what it’s worth, this vacuum does much cooler than the last! The one downside is that it is pretty loud for the size and weight, but we think the price and mobility make up for it.

  • Only 8 pounds
  • Works better on carpet
  • Small canister, have to change a lot

Best Vacuum Under $150 - Buyer's Guide

It can be hard to keep track of exactly what features you should be considering when sorting through all these vacuums! Ultimately each vacuum will be better in some departments than others so it will depend on your individual needs. So consider which of these factors are most important to you when making our purchase.

Bagged v. Bagless

Should you go with bagged or bagless? One isn’t necessarily better than the other. With bagged, you will start to lose suction as the bag fills up and it’s recommended you change your bag when it’s about halfway full, which can be annoying. Of course this also means having to purchase additional bags for your vacuum. However with bagged, it’s much easier to empty as all the dust and dirt is trapped and is less likely to get out. So if you suffer from allergies, consider going with bagged. You won’t get that loss of suction with bagless, but there is the potential for some of the dust to dispel out when emptying.

Upright v. Cylinder

Another personal preference with pros and cons. Cylinder is easier and smaller to store but can be annoying to pick up as it’s closer to the ground. Upright vacuums generally have a larger head covering more area, but can be harder to maneuver around furniture.

Carpet Cleaning

Do you have a lot of thick carpets in your home? Make sure to check that your vacuum will work well on deep carpets and see if it even has settings you can adjust to the length of your carpet!

Hard Floor Cleaning

On the flip side, some vacuums are geared specifically for carpets. Make sure the vacuum has a switch to change to hardwood floors so it’s still able to pick up all the dust/dirt on hardwoods as well.

Pet Hair Cleaning

Definitely take this into consideration if you have a lot, or long-haired pets. There are vacuums designed specifically to pick up pet hair or come with a pet hair attachment. These can be a lifesaver, especially if you also have allergies.

A huge factor that can turn your vacuuming chore into something that doesn’t feel like a chore at all! Is it swivel steer? Is it light? How wide is the head? These are all things to consider if you want something that’s easy to move. Or for the ultimate portability, consider a cylinder or canister vacuum!

There isn’t going to be one vacuum that magically solves all your problems, but we are looking for one that’s close! Ultimately it will come down to what specific needs you have and what you’re looking for, (and we hope this guide helped!) but there is one vacuum that we feel comes close to checking off a lot of those boxes and will fit the needs of most people reading.

That vacuum is the Hoover Air Lift Deluxe Bagless Corded Upright Vacuum! We chose this for a number of reasons. It has the second longest cord we saw (30 feet!), it has a simple button to switch from carpet to hardwood, it’s 17 pounds, it’s exceptionally easy to maneuver, and best of all – it has a detachable canister! That really put us over the edge as it allows you to have the best of both worlds. It is also a bagless cleaner which we think is a benefit as it will save you money over the long run not having to pay for bags. And it even looks great to boot! This is the best inexpensive vacuum cleaner and definitely the best vacuum under 150. We’re confident you’ll be happy with your purchase.
