Product Name - Ultra Short Description.
Example: iRobot Braava 380t – Great for Busy Households

Not all biodegradable litters have to be expensive, contrary to so many beliefs. Dr. Elsey’s Precious Cat Ultra version is one, if not the best option to choose from the clumping clay litters out there. There are also many “all-natural” litters that just don’t do the job right, whether it comes down to dust, scent, or clumping.

The special formulation combines heavy, non-tracking granules that come from their Classic Litter, and a medium grain clay. The reason behind this formulation, is that the litter clumps impressively easily, preventing moisture from hitting the bottom of the box and creating a clump that won’t break apart. This means much less work for you when it comes to sifting, or if you have a mechanical cat box at your home. It is also much more clean and sanitary in the long run, because the actual box bottom will not get wet.

If you have multiple cats in your home, this is an excellent choice, as you won’t be dealing with the dust and the tracking that is practically inevitable. If you’re on the hunt for a cat litter that doesn’t smell (and who isn’t?), then you’ll love the superior odor control the the Ultra provides to you and your home. Plus, no one really enjoys cuddling with a cat who smells like cat litter! While this is undoubtedly one of the best cat litters for odor control, we did notice that while it is better at dust control than other formulas, there are much better options on this list if you’re looking for very minimal dust.

PROS
  • Great for odor control
  • Litter clumps extremely fast and efficiently
  • Biodegradable, all-natural
CONS
  • Other litters are better at dust control

World's Best - Best All-around Product

If you’re going to call your product the “World’s Best”, then it better live up to it’s name, right? Well, we have to say that World’s Best Cat Litter does a pretty good job of that. They really do offer the best of both worlds, making it super easy to clean and maintain a clean and sanitary litter box.

This safe, all-natural cat litter formula is literally great for everything. It’s healthy and better for your cat/s, you and your family members, your home, and the planet! So many cat litters on the market today are unfortunately made with synthetic materials and chemicals that often do more harm than good. Made from renewable, whole-kernel corn, you actually know what is going in your home, and what your cat will be in contact with.

The quick-clumping formula makes it super easy to scoop, and really convenient if you have a mechanical cat box. As it is so quick to clump up, the liquid will not reach the bottom of the cat box, making it that much easier to maintain a sanitary, clean box. This litter is ideal for homes with 1-2 cats, and has excellent odor control, making sure your house smells as clean as it feels

PROS
  • Easy to maintain clean box
  • All-natural, safe formula
  • Great odor and dust control
CONS
  • More expensive than other options

If you’re worried about your cats not accepting this unique litter, there’s no need to be concerned. The creamy, sand-like look and texture makes transition easy and is truly comfortable on their feet. In comparison to clay litters, this best rated cat litter is much more lightweight and even clumps easier! The litter also clumps on contact, and keeps on hardening until all liquid is absorbed. This makes it so easy to keep the box clean

  • More efficient than others

Cat Attract - Best Product for Problem Cats

We know we already have a Precious Cat at the top of our list, but they also make the Cat Attract version, which is great if you have problem cats. Many litters make it harder for cats to be box trained, as they’re not the most user-friendly. Precious Cat has changed that with this formula.

This herb-scented litter aims to encourage cats to stop being litter-shy and train them well. Due to its smell, it draws the cats back to the litter box, however, the rest of its properties are what really keeps them there. Being 99% dust-free, it’s great for cats with asthma, and helps calm them down. No one likes breathing in dust, including your cats. The all-natural litter is hard-clumping, and absorbs liquid on contact. This makes it easy for you to keep the box clean and make it more sanitary for everyone involved.

This best cat litter is wonderful for odor control, and makes it ideal for a multi-cat household. You won’t even smell the herb scent, unless you get really close to the litter, and no one wants to do that. Overall, this cat litter is wonderful, but if your cats aren’t actually problem cats, then you may want to choose another option.

PROS
  • Ideal for multi-cat household, kittens, and problem cats
  • Natural herb scent draws cats in
  • Soft on cat paws
  • Great odor and dust control
CONS
  • Not ideal for cats who don't have issues, or if cats are fully-grown

Best Cat Litter - Buyer's Guide

Choosing the best cat litter for your cats and your home isn’t always the easiest thing to do. At first, it may seem as simple as running to the store and picking up whichever bag of litter you see first. Doing that will probably end up with a dusty house with your cats tracking litter everywhere, and it being a pain to clean. With that being said, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to create a little buying guide for you, so you don’t have to ever deal with that!

Type

There are three types of cat litter on the market: clay, biodegradable, and crystal. We’re going to do a quick run-through of all of them so you get a better idea which one is best for your home.

Clay

Clay litters are the most popular type on the market. As they’re much less expensive than other types available, this is one of the big reasons people continue to purchase it over other options.  They’re also quite effective at controlling unwelcome odors, which can have a huge influence, too. However, they do have a downside. As they’re primarily comprised of fine-grained clays, they can be super dusty and easily tracked through the house. It’s not good at all for kittens, or humans, who can get the small dust particles in their lungs.

Biodegradable

Over the past few years, natural, biodegradable cat litters have blown up in popularity due to their multiple benefits over other litter types. First, they’re much more eco-friendly, as they’re made from all-natural materials such as corn, wheat, grass, and more. Due to this, they’re flushable, and can also be composted, should you choose. This means they’re much easier to dispose of. They typically also consist of larger-grained pellets, which makes them an excellent option for kittens, as they can’t ingest the particles. Some of these litters clump, and some do not, so make sure to pay attention.

Crystal

Many cat owners love crystal litters, and many do not. Why? The litter typically consists of jagged, crystal-like particles that aren’t the friendliest on cats’ feet. In contrast, they are extremely absorbent due to the sodium silicate/silica gel that’s used. That means they won’t have to be changed as often as with other kinds of litter.

Dust/Tracking

If you or someone else in your home has asthma, then make sure you’re not getting a litter that gives off a lot or any dust. There are plenty of excellent options to choose from where you don’t have to deal with the terrible dust that’s often associated with clay litters. We personally recommend going with an all-natural, biodegradable litter if that’s the case.

Scent

We don’t really know anyone who actually likes the smell of cat litter, but if you don’t mind it, then that’s great. However, if you’re not a fan at all of the scent of cat litter, then there are also plenty of options to choose from that have no scent at all and also work to control odor so your house smells fresh and clean, always.

Clump/No Clump

Many biodegradable litters do not clump, due to the fact that they’re all-natural products and naturally do not clump like clay litters do. However, they still have absorbent properties; if they didn’t, they wouldn’t really be a good litter, would they? If you have to have clumping, there are some all-natural litters that do, and there are plenty of crystal and clay litters that absorb upon contact and keep absorbing until all of the liquid is gone

Conclusion

Cat litter is pretty straightforward, but you must know what you and your cat want beforehand so that you’re not purchasing a litter that one or both of you dislikes. For example, crystal litter and clay litter is not ideal for kittens, as they can be uncomfortable and dangerous to their respiratory system. Biodegradable is honestly best for everyone, and the only real “downsides” to them, is that they do not clump the way others do.

We hope you enjoyed your time with us as much as we did! We are always dedicated to providing you with the best on the market, and will consistently provide unbiased, honest reviews. With that being said, we genuinely feel that all of these cat litters are of the highest quality. However, we prefer biodegradable litter over any of the others. They’re safer for everyone, they’re less messy, they’re eco-friendly, and have no dust or tracking. You really cannot go wrong with any of these options, as they’re all the best cat litters on the market today!
